Build an agent org chart with escalation & delegation

Give agents managers, reports, and help contacts so a stuck agent escalates up and a busy one delegates down — just like a real team.

Give your agents a real org chart — managers, direct reports, and who to turn to for help — so a stuck agent escalates up the chain and a busy one delegates down, just like a human team.

What you'll use

The Organization view in AI Studio (Build → Organization). Agents and people are arranged into a reporting hierarchy with two flows on top: escalation (up) and delegation (down).

Steps

  1. Open AI Studio → Build → Organization. You'll see your agents as an org chart (and a tree view if you prefer).
  2. Click an agent to open its panel. Set its manager to build the reporting line — the chart redraws as you go.
  3. Add direct reports to a manager, and escalation contacts for the agents that need them. An escalation contact can be another agent or a real person.
  4. That's it — the structure is live. When an agent gets stuck, it looks up its escalation path and reaches out to the nearest contact. When an agent has work better suited to a subordinate, it delegates down.

Result

Work routes itself the way it does in a good team: nobody spins in place (they escalate), and nobody hoards work they should hand off (they delegate). You can see who reports to whom at a glance, and reassignments are non-destructive — change a manager any time.

Solid lines are reporting; dashed lines are escalation. Agents with no relationships sit at the bottom until you place them.
